Grow Delightful Dwarf Snapdragon Twinny Orchid F1
Discover the charm of Snapdragon Twinny Orchid F1 (*Antirrhinum majus*), a delightful dwarf snapdragon hybrid that produces an abundance of large, semi-double flowers in two beautiful shades of orchid pink, as light and airy as butterflies.
This small, compact, and well-branched plant blooms for many weeks, making it an ideal choice for adding continuous colour to sunny borders and especially attractive flowering pots. ‘Twinny Orchid’ also makes an excellent cut flower for bringing its delicate beauty indoors.
While its longevity as an annual or perennial depends on the specific climate, it is best sown during the cooler months from August to September for optimal flowering during the more temperate periods.
For successful growth, sow seeds from August to September on the surface of well-drained seed compost, ensuring they are not covered as light aids germination. Maintain a temperature of 20-25°C using a propagator or a seed tray in a plastic bag until germination occurs, typically within 10 to 21 days.
Once the seedlings are large enough to handle, carefully transplant them into 8 cm pots. Gradually acclimatize the young plants to slightly cooler conditions before planting them out with a spacing of 23 to 30 cm in a location that receives full sun and has fertile, well-drained, and well-worked soil.
While generally grown as an annual, protecting the plants from the intense summer heat by ensuring good soil drainage and perhaps mulching could potentially aid in overwintering in milder microclimates. Regular deadheading will encourage continued blooming.
