Grow Massive, Peony-Like Pink Blooms with Poppy Pink Peony Seeds
Indulge in the ultra-feminine beauty of Poppy Pink Peony. These hardy annuals produce massive flower heads that resemble upturned petticoats, packed full with layers of delicate pink petals. Despite the abundance of petals, the stems are surprisingly strong and capable of supporting the weight of these impressive blooms. As the flowers fade, they leave behind a generous display of beautiful, glaucous gray seedpods that add unique textural interest to the garden, both in their fresh state and when dried for arrangements.
Spectacular, Multi-Petaled Pink Flowers
The Poppy Pink Peony is truly captivating, with its large, opulent flowers that closely resemble the lush blooms of peonies. The numerous soft pink petals create a full and luxurious appearance, making these poppies a standout in any garden setting.
Attractive Seedpods for Extended Interest
Even after the stunning pink flowers have faded, the beauty of the Poppy Pink Peony continues with the development of attractive, glaucous gray seedpods. These pods offer a unique textural element to the late-season garden and are highly sought after for use in dried floral arrangements, providing lasting beauty indoors.
Direct Sow for Best Results
Like other breadseed poppies, the ‘Pink Peony’ variety resents transplanting and thrives when sown directly into the garden. For optimal growth, sow seeds directly after the weather has cooled. Be mindful of slugs, which are known to be fond of young poppy plants, and take necessary precautions.
Harvesting and Vase Life
If you wish to enjoy the cut flowers, harvest them when they are half-open. To prolong their vase life, seal the stem ends in boiling water for 7 to 10 seconds immediately after cutting. Please note that the flowers of the ‘Pink Peony’ Poppy are not particularly long-lasting in a vase, with an expected life of 2 to 3 days. However, the seedpods can be harvested and dried for indefinite use in decorative arrangements.
