Poppy Mission Bells
Add a vibrant and carefree touch to your garden with Poppy Mission Bells (*Eschscholzia Californica*). These non-GMO seeds, featuring an easy-to-handle all-natural coating, will reward you with a brilliant mix of double and semi-double saucer-shaped blooms in a delightful array of cream, yellow, orange, pink, and dark pink shades.
The charming 5-8cm (2-3″) flowers are held gracefully above feathery grey-green foliage, creating a visually stunning display. Known for their resilience, these California Poppies are both heat and drought tolerant, making them an excellent choice for sunny gardens.
The seeds of Poppy Mission Bells come with a unique, all-natural coating made from a blend of clay, lime, and perlite. This coating, tinted with a food-grade coloring for better visibility, makes the small seeds easier to handle and ensures more consistent planting.
For successful growth, it’s crucial to sow the seeds directly into your garden where they are intended to bloom, at a depth of about 3-6 mm. Space the seeds approximately 15-20 cm apart in a location that receives full sun and has light, sandy soil. After sowing, lightly cultivate the soil and keep it consistently moist until germination occurs, which typically takes between 10 to 21 days.
It’s important to note that California Poppies do not tolerate transplanting well, so starting seeds indoors is not recommended. While they may self-sow, they are not considered an invasive species, allowing for natural spread without overwhelming your garden.
