Chilli Paprika Mertina Peppers
Discover the mild and fresh flavour of Pepper Chilli Paprika Mertina Hybrid, a Turkish Deme chili pepper (Mertina F1) perfect for a wide range of culinary uses. With a Scoville heat unit rating of just 1,000, this pepper offers a gentle warmth that won’t overpower your dishes. The smooth, light green fruits ripen to a vibrant red and reach a convenient weight of 30-50 grams. Mertina F1 is known for its abundant production, promising a generous harvest from your plants.
Enjoy these versatile peppers green for a milder spiciness or wait until they turn red for a slightly spicier, fruity note. They are excellent for pickling, adding flavour to kebab dishes, or simply as a fresh addition to your meals. This easy-to-grow variety thrives outdoors, in greenhouses, raised beds, and even pots.
For successful cultivation, sow your Mertina F1 chilli pepper seeds indoors from February to April using a quality sowing and cutting soil. Maintain a consistent temperature between 25-28°C to encourage optimal germination. Once the seedlings are strong enough to handle, carefully transplant them into individual pots and provide them with plenty of light, such as on a sunny windowsill or in a greenhouse.
From May onwards, once the threat of night frost has passed, you can move your plants outdoors to their final growing location. Harvest your Mertina peppers when they have reached their full red colour, typically between July and October. Regular picking will encourage the plant to produce even more fruit.
Use your harvested chilies fresh, dry them for later use, or get creative and make your own spicy spice blends.
