Growing Information
Sowing Indoors (for same-year flowering): Sow from January onwards, 0.5cm (¼ inch) deep in a tray of moist compost. Water well and place on a warm kitchen windowsill where the temperature is 15-20°C (60-68°F). Keep the compost moist. Seedlings typically appear in 14-28 days. Once large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into other trays, spacing them 5cm (2 inches) apart. Gradually acclimatize young plants to outdoor conditions (avoiding frosts), before planting them out into well-drained soil from May to October, spacing them 15cm (6 inches) apart.
Sowing Outdoors (for flowering the following year): Sow thinly outdoors from May to August in a prepared seed bed with finely prepared, well-drained soil that has already been watered. Sow seeds 0.5cm (¼ inch) deep. Thin seedlings to 5cm (2 inches) apart. From late summer onwards, transplant the seedlings to their final flowering positions, spacing them 15cm (6 inches) apart.
