Growing Your Onion He Shi Ko-Bunching
He Shi Ko-Bunching onions can be direct sown in spring or fall. Choose a location with full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. Sow seeds 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep and space plants about 6 inches apart.
Being a perennial, it will continue to produce year after year. For year-round harvests in cooler climates, consider using cold frames or light winter protection. Water regularly, especially during dry periods. Harvest the green stalks as needed from the base of the plant, allowing the remaining plant to continue producing.
These onions are relatively low-maintenance and will become a staple in your garden.
