Melon Halona F1
Prepare for a sensory delight with Melon Halona F1, a hybrid cantaloupe renowned for its knock-out aroma and overall flavor.
This productive variety ripens early in the season (around 73-75 days from transplant), offering a significant advantage for growers in various climates. The globe-shaped fruits are beautifully marked with deep ribs and fine netting, reaching up to 15cm (6 inches) in diameter and weighing between 1.8 to 2.2kg (4-5 lbs).
Known for its high sugar content (high Brix), Halona delivers a truly sweet and satisfying taste.
Exceptional Disease Resistance for Reliable Growth
Halona cantaloupe seeds produce plants with exceptionally good disease resistance, including significant protection against powdery mildew and fusarium wilt. This makes Halona an excellent choice for gardeners in hot, humid climates where powdery mildew can be a major challenge, as well as those in cooler regions.
As an “Eastern type” developed in Colorado, it demonstrates good adaptability.
These are premium quality, medium-sized melons specifically selected for the home garden, offering both superior flavor and reliable performance.
Optimal Growing for Early and Flavorful Harvests
For best results with your Melon Halona F1 seeds, start seeds indoors in mid to late April, sowing them 1cm (½ inch) deep.
Transplant seedlings in late May or early June when they are about 5 weeks old, spacing them 24-36 inches apart in rows 5-6 feet apart. Ensure warm, sunny conditions and well-drained soil.
Harvest is typically in late August to early September when the ripe cantaloupe easily detaches from the vine with light finger pressure.
