Lettuce Iceberg
Step back in time with Lettuce Iceberg, an iconic HEIRLOOM variety introduced in 1894 that defined an entire new class of lettuce.
Quickly becoming the great American lettuce, ‘Iceberg’ has been prized by gardeners and farmers alike for its firm, packed heads and its remarkable ability to retain freshness, flavor, and that signature crunch. Experience the unrivalled crispiness that made this lettuce a household name.
Classic Cool-Green Heads with White Hearts
Iceberg lettuce forms cool-green, medium-sized heads with attractively fringed and ruffled outer leaves. Inside, you’ll find pale, silvery-white hearts that are the epitome of crispness.
This variety thrives in cooler weather, making it an ideal choice for spring and fall gardens. Sow your heirloom iceberg lettuce seeds and enjoy the satisfying texture and refreshing taste that has made it a salad staple for generations.
Easy to Grow for a Crisp Harvest
Sow your lettuce seeds in average soil in a location that receives full sun, particularly when the weather is cooler. For a continuous harvest, sow every two weeks. Plant thinly in rows 12 inches apart and cover with just ¼ inch of fine soil.
Keep the soil evenly moist, and seedlings will emerge in 7-10 days. Harvest your Iceberg heads when they feel firm to the touch, cutting them below the crown for the best quality and crispness.
