Growing Your Lemon Grass from Seed
Start your Lemon Grass journey in early spring by preparing a growing medium of equal parts sand and compost in a seed tray. Sow the seeds at a depth of about 0.5cm and cover them with a thin layer of compost or vermiculite. To create the ideal germination environment, enclose the seed tray in a sealed plastic bag or wrap it tightly with clear plastic cling film.
Continuing Care for Your Lemon Grass
Once your seedlings have grown large enough to handle, carefully prick them off into individual trays or pots. It’s crucial to grow Lemon Grass in containers, especially if you live in a climate with cold winters, as it will not survive temperatures below 6°C.
This allows you to easily bring your plants indoors to a protected environment when the weather cools down.
