Growing Information

Days to Germination: 7-14 days at 70°F (21°C)
Sowing (Direct Seed Recommended): Sow seeds 1/8 inch deep directly after the danger of frost has passed in your region. Cover seeds lightly.
Container Planting: Seeds can also be planted in individual containers and then transplanted into the garden or field without dividing. Alternatively, sow in seedling trays and transplant small seedlings directly to their final location.
Light Preference: Full sun is essential for best plume development and color.

Plant Spacing: Space seeds ½ to 1 inch apart when direct sowing. Thin seedlings as needed to allow for proper air circulation and growth.

Harvesting

Harvest plumes for fresh or dried arrangements when they are fully open but not yet fluffy. For drying, hang the cut stems upside down in a dry, well-ventilated area.
