For successful cultivation, sow Sweet William seeds by covering them thinly with soil, pressing down lightly, and ensuring they remain moist. After approximately 4 weeks, transplant the seedlings, providing a spacing of 20 cm between plants and 25 cm between rows.
Sweet William thrives in a sunny and warm location with nutrient-rich, sandy-loamy soil that contains a little lime. Germination typically occurs within 7 to 14 days when the soil temperature is between 15 and 18°C.
Remember that as a biennial, you’ll generally see foliage growth in the first year, followed by a beautiful display of colorful double blooms in the second year, providing long-lasting beauty to your garden. It is also suitable for growing in containers, offering versatility in your garden design.
