Dahlia American Sunset

Dahlia ‘American Sunset’ is a decorative dahlia with fruity orange flowers which look wonderful on their own or contrasted with purple. The outside of the petals is pale orange, recurving inward to reveal deeper orange beneath and creating a lovely two-tone effect. The colour is beautifully offset by dark, sturdy stems which are good for cutting. Height: 90cm (36in). Spread: 60cm (24in).

Feed and water dahlias regularly throughout the growing season. While plants are still young, pinch out the growing tip of each stem to encourage bushier growth and masses of flowers. As dahlias develop, the taller varieties will require staking with garden canes to support their stems. Deadhead faded dahlia flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced.
