Mini Cabbage Caraflex F1
Discover the exceptional qualities of Cabbage Caraflex F1, a hybrid variety producing extremely uniform, small, and distinctively pointed mini cabbage heads. With good outer wrapper leaves protecting the tender, crunchy inner leaves, ‘Caraflex F1’ offers an excellent, sweet, and mild cabbage flavor.
These delightful mini cabbages are perfect for adding a fresh touch to summer salads and slaws, or for incorporating into your favorite cooked dishes. In the UK, similar cabbages are harvested early as “spring greens.” Expect an average head weight of 1 1/2 to 2 lb.
Caraflex F1 thrives in fertile soil with consistent irrigation and can be grown as a winter crop in regions with mild winters (temperatures rarely below 32°F/0°C), with transplanting possible from September to February.
For successful cultivation, ensure a fertile soil with a pH between 6.5 and 7.5. Consistent watering is crucial throughout the growing period, as cabbage are heavy feeders. If transplanting, aim for cooler growing temperatures between 55-75°F (13-24°C).
In mild winter areas, set out transplants from September to February. If direct seeding, sow 3-4 seeds 12 inches apart and 1/2 inch deep in rows spaced 24-36 inches apart, later thinning to one strong plant per group.
Maturity time will vary depending on whether you are transplanting in cool spring weather (subtract 10-14 days for late winter/early spring planting) or direct seeding (add about 14 days).
