Growing Your Organic Aromatto Basil
Start your Aromatto basil indoors about 6 weeks before the last frost, sowing seeds 1/4 inch deep and maintaining a temperature of 70°F (21°C) for optimal germination (5-10 days). Alternatively, direct sow 2-3 seeds per inch in rows 18 inches apart after the danger of frost has passed, firming the soil gently.
Thin or space transplants to 4-8 inches apart in rows 18 inches apart to allow for healthy, full growth. Plant in a sunny location with moderately rich, consistently moist soil. Avoid drought and heat stress by providing regular watering throughout the growing season.
Harvest in the cooler early morning once flowers begin to open (for fresh use) or when fully open (for drying). Handle leaves gently to prevent bruising and store above 50°F (10°C).
