perennial. Prefers calcareous, well drained soil in a warm, sheltered location. Requires a lot of moisture. Leaves and shoot tips, fresh or dried, are very aromatic, so do not use too much. For seasoning meat dishes, fish, salads and herb curd. Has a germicidal, analgesic and antispasmodic effect. Can be used for tea and a skin cleansing bath.
