Finishing pad for greenhouse cucumbers and melons.
Resistant underlay for finishing greenhouse cucumbers as protection against wilting diseases and root rot. In addition, the finishing pad reduces the sensitivity of the cucumbers to low soil temperatures.

The finishing set is aimed at the experienced hobby gardener. Not suitable for eating.

Culture Notes:
Location: humic Love, nutrient-rich and well drained soil with adequate water supply

Sowing:
Time: April-May
Location: House / pots

first sowing
Sowing time: April-May
Start by sowing 1 grain of a snake cucumber variety (F1 hybrid) in a saucepan, such as ‘Sudica’ or ‘Printo’.
Since the pumpkin seeds germinate faster than the cucumber seeds, sow 1 grain of the fig leaf squash in the same pot three to four days after sowing the cucumber. Distance between the grains: 3-4 cm.
Tip: Soak the pumpkin seeds in warm water for 24 hours.

Please only use germ-free soil with a low salt content when growing. Press the seed evenly so that it closes the ground. Please cover the seeds with double the thickness of the soil. Please water the fresh seeds carefully and keep the seeds evenly moist afterwards. You reduce the risk of drying out if you place a transparent film with air holes over the growing container. However, the foil must be removed from the soil in good time when the seedlings are pierced. Plants that love warmth need a warm soil: a germination temperature of 20 to 25 ° C is optimal. Please keep this germ temperature day and night.

2. The finishing
After about 2 weeks, when the first leaves are 2-3 cm long, they are refined.
To do this, cut the pumpkin seedling at an angle with a sharp razor blade from top to bottom (1.5 cm long). Cut the cucumber seedling in the same length in opposite directions from bottom to top. This creates two interfaces (‘tongues’) that are pushed into one another.

3. Further cultivation
The lead foil strip included in the Kiepenkerl finishing set is wrapped around the finishing station. This protects and holds the finishing station together.
Place the pot in a partially shaded place at approx. 20-24 ° Celsius. High humidity is now important. You can do this e.g. B. by putting a bell or culture in the mini greenhouse. Let the processing point grow together undisturbed for a week. One week after refining, the cucumber root is removed below the finishing point and the pumpkin shoot above the finishing point.

Average growing time for grafted young plants: 5 weeks. The refined cucumber plants should not be set too low, so that the processing point is not overgrown by side roots of the cucumber.
