Comfrey is a perennial, bristly hairy perennial that grows up to 1 m. Its flowers are colored red violet or yellowish white. A sunny to partially shaded location with medium-heavy, sandy loam soil is preferred. Tinctures from fresh or dried plant parts (including the root) have a healing effect on the bones and wounds. Comfrey is also used as a mulch material and as fertilizer. Disliked by snails.
