Strawberry Spinach

This vegetable from grandmother’s time can be used young as spinach: cooked, frozen or for salad. It was cultivated in European gardens for centuries until it was supplanted by spinach. After flowering, a row of bright red, juicy fruits forms that resemble monthly strawberries and also taste somewhat similar to strawberries. In the past, fruits were used to attractively decorate dishes. Strawberry spinach also makes an unusual balcony and pot plant with ornamental value. Suitable for outdoor and greenhouse cultivation. Sowing in batches is recommended in order to always be able to harvest.
